Preoperative Instructions:
  • Eat normally before the procedure (it is not advisable to come on an empty stomach). Do not consume alcohol on the day before and the day of the procedure.
  • Do not smoke or reduce your consumption as much as possible, ideally starting two weeks before the procedure and continuing up to six weeks after. You can use a nicotine substitute, such as a patch.
  • For women, avoid using lipstick or foundation.
  • For men, shave closely or thoroughly wash your beard or mustache.
  • If you need a pain reliever, prefer paracetamol (acetaminophen) over aspirin (Doliprane®, Dafalgan®, Efferalgan®).
  • Ensure you thoroughly brush your teeth before the procedure.
  • Postoperative Instructions:

  • Strictly follow your prescription.
  • Apply an ice pack to the operated side of the cheek intermittently every 5 minutes during the first few hours following the procedure.
  • Avoid eating on the operated side for 1 week; avoid acidic or spicy foods. Opt for a diet of cold/warm and semi-soft foods (avoid small grains like couscous).
  • Brush your teeth as usual, except on the operated side.
  • 24 hours after the procedure, perform a mouthwash after each brushing, in a passive manner without vigorous movement, gargling, or cheek pulsing.

  • YOU MUST NOT
  • Smoke or consume alcohol, as it delays or even prevents healing.
  • Engage in sports, go to the swimming pool, or take a flight for 1 week.
  • Spit or explore the operated area with your tongue.

  • DO NOT WORRY
  • If the area becomes sensitive a few days after the procedure.
  • About the color and texture that the gum may have.
  • If you experience minor bleeding or notice bloodstains on your pillow in the first days after the procedure. In case of bleeding, fold a compress into quarters and gently apply it to the operated site for 20 minutes with slight pressure. If bleeding persists, contact us.
  • If swelling appears: it will regress within 72 hours
